The Cottages of the Palm Beaches believes, and much research supports, the fact that addiction is a family disease.

Family Weekend is a program provided and dedicated to guiding, assisting and supporting the family members of the addicted individual through the journey of recovery.

Through attendance at lectures and groups, all participants will have the opportunity to learn about topics that include the biological dynamics of the disease, and the accompanying role each member plays in the addiction and road to recovery. All patients are strongly encouraged to have the very important people in their lives attend Family Weekend.

It is no secret that one family member addicted to alcohol and/or drugs will affect the whole family. The Cottages of the Palm Beaches' Family Weekend provides a three day opportunity for families and friends to learn about addiction, treatment and recovery. The atmosphere of the Family Weekend is designed to be educational and supportive; not a confrontational or "hot seat" experience.

Our family weekend is facilitated by a highly qualified professional Julia K. Daniels, LMHC, LMT, Med., Ed.S.
The goal for the three days is for all parties involved to learn and grow through a series of addiction focused, educational and small group experiences.

Group topics include:

• Learning about Recovery for Families. Helping you determine what your role might be in your family member’s recovery.
• Meeting, sharing and learning from other families' experiences.
• Discovering what steps you can take for yourself for help and support.
